I collaborated with my friend Shane Elias on graphics for his runway piece for the 2022 CFC (Cornell Fashion Collective) runway show. The premise of the collaboration was an expression of our mutual appreciation for the work of Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto, under the runway’s theme of the year; ‘unconventional’. The result is an unconventional blend of heavy graphic forms and avant garde construction methods, reflecting Sakamoto’s unconventional approach towards music and composing.

For me, unconventionality is the combination of unlikely elements in a way that is novel and unique, yet harmonious and innovative - a theme that is expressed clearly through Ryuichi’s musical philosophy, which combines sound and silence to compose, create, and conduct.
